Custom name servers or vanity names, can be used to customize how your registered domain name information is displayed. They are primarily seen in a "Whois" lookup on your domain name. If you want to setup your own nameservers you need to follow this guide:

1. Create ns1 and ns2 A record for your desired domain to use. The A records should be the actual server IP address.
2. Go to your registrar for regsitered domain and change to your created nameservers. In about 24-72 hours domain's DNS will be refreshed.

Apache is a very powerful web server available free. It provides with many choices such as creating a virtual host. Apache has a whole section devoted in Virtual hosting that is ‘http.conf’. A virtual host is a different host from the main host although they operate from the same server. They differ from the main host in that they do not have a specific IP address.

Virtual host are mainly used when you have many websites especially if the content is not huge and traffic to the site is minimal. You can create you won virtual host by editing the http.conf file. Below are steps that can help you do so.

Note that the steps below presuppose that you have your entire Virtual hosts in a root directory C:/vhost.

Root directory refers to C:/vhost.

Step One

The first step is to create folder or folders (if you indent to create many) on the root directory. Term the folders any forename you would like.

Step Two

If you have never handled Local host installations, it installs its drivers in the system 32 under the subfolder ETC. Open it and locate a file named hosts. Once you locate it, open it with your favorite script editor. In the file locate a line with the following ‘127.0.0.1 localhost ‘usually at the bottom.

Step three

Assuming you are successful with step two above, enter a new line and write 127.0.0.1 followed with a space and then the name of you virtual. In this context, it is MYVHOST. Add as many Virtual host as you would like each on a different line with the same IP like the first one.

Step four

Open the http.conf file from the directory where you have installed your Apache software. It is under the subfolder conf. Edit the file by opening it with a text editor. The section you are supposed to edit is ‘#Include conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf’. Edit it by removing the hash and save it.

Step five

On the location where you have installed apache open the subfolder conf and located in there a folder named Extra. In the Extra folder, open the file httpd-vhosts.conf. Remove any hash tag on the following line ‘NameVirtualHost *.80’.

Still on the same file, add the following code just above the line you edited.

“<Directory C:/vhosts> Order Deny, Allow Allow from all </Directory>”

This code functions to allow permission to the virtual host.

Step Six

Still on the same file and the following codes

“<VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot c:/htdocs ServerName localhost </VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot c: /vhosts/myvhost ServerName myvhost </VirtualHost>”

Bank the file and close it.

Step seven

To allow what you have edited to take course you should restart you computer. Hoping you have done that, you can now access you virtual host via the address http://myvhost/.

If you have followed the above steps keenly, you should now have your own virtual host. If you still cannot create virtual host go through the steps again and note where you might have gone wrong. Have fun by creating as many as you can.

If you are in such of a web server, Apache is extremely the best you should choose. It is the best web serve because of its performance and stability not to mention that it is an open source. It is obtainable in plentiful versions. You can download the most up-to-date edition from their authorized website. Choosing the right version is not an easy task. Version 3.3 is a stable version and many people use it.

Apache edition 1.3 has the advantage that it is very protected and steady. Forums and certain individuals have solved problems related to this version. Thus, it is very easy to get an answer to any problem that you may encounter while using this version. Volunteers have discovered and solved most of its security issues.

Apache web server has the capability to keep a detailed log files on each activity performed on it. This log files help web designers to manage their websites effectively. With the log files, web designer are able to detect any errors that occur and troubleshoot them. In addition, log files help webmasters analyze on the traffic data of a website.

Log files are very important because without them it is very unlikely to troubleshoot any setback within the server. It is advisable to back up log files on a separate disk so that in case of a problem you can be able to trace back and solve it. Apache log files are stored on the web space of you website. You can straightforwardly establish them. Additionally, they are not complicated to study.

However, there is no point of keeping them according to most webmasters. This is because like any other file they occupy a lot of web space. Since apache creates log files on daily basis, they rapidly accumulate and within a few years, you run out of web space. Web master can bear with me when I say that running out of disk is a very bad sign.

If you currently faced such a situation and wonder how to deal with it wonder no more. Below are steps you can follow in order to stop apache from creating log files.

Step one: The foremost step is to login to your server and locate the file “httpd. conf”. In most serves, the file is located under a sub folder named conf. Am assuming that you can be able to trace the conf folder under the root directory in the ETC folder and then under the http folder.

Step two: After you have located the file, the subsequent step is to revise it. Open it with a text editor such as note pad and locate the line “Custom Log” edit it by adding a hush tag in its begging. The purpose of the hash tag is to comment out the statement.

Step four: Still on the same file, locate the line “Error Log”. Like the first one, add a hash tag.

Step five: This is the last step and all you need to do is save your file and restart Apache. You are complete!

Apache is the most used web servers. It is free and compatible with many websites. This module has a variety of built-in features. There are different web servers that have apache build in them. For instance, WampServer and XXAMP have the same features and capabilities like Apache. Although they work the same, Apache is the most recommended by most Web designers and programmers.

If you are supervising a website or a blog, you have heard about Apache. Most individuals who offer web space have apache installed in their Cpanel. This has made running websites very easy. Apache server can crowd most of the WebPages made from different scripting languages such as PHP, HTNM, HTM, Java scripts and many others. In addition, it can support most of the database engines like MYSQL.

Apache is very easy to use. It has a very comprehensible interface. Beginners or anybody new to the field of scripting and web hosting should use apache to kick-start their knowledge in the field. A key feature in Apache is PHPMYadmin that will help you run and manage your dynamic web content. PHPMYadmin supports both PHP and MYSQL.

Below are general steps on how to install Apache

Step One

The foremost step is to download the latest apache module. It will cost you nothing since Apache is an open source. Apache downloads are available in different languages such as English, French and many other official languages across the world. Choose the language that is official in your country. Download should take you a few minutes.

Step Two

If you download is complete you must have noticed that the file of Apache are zipped. The next stem from here is to unzip the files. A prompt window will appear for you to choose on where to extract the files. Choose the destination that you can conveniently access. Otherwise, you can install them on the same directory or anywhere else in the system.

Step Three

The third step is to install Apache. Installation will depend on the operating system you are running. However, in all of them you will have a pop up window that will act as your installation wizard. Click on next button until you are through with the installation process. Be sure to accept their terms and conditions by clicking on a checkbox on the same installation wizard

On the same wizard, you will be required to fill in your own information. On the first two-text boxes fill them with the word ‘Localhost’ and the third text box fill in with your own email address. After that click on next and let the installation to run. Once it is through a notification window will appear that you should click on the finish button.

Step four

The fourth step is to tailor your installed apache. There are many manuals on how to modify apache. If you are a beginner, I recommend that you check out the certified manual on how to customize apache on their authorized website. If you are conversant with scripting languages, you can go ahead and tidy up it to suit your needs.

Step five

This is the preceding stride and it involves trying your apache. You can do this by toting up some of your files. If it does not work, follow the above steps carefully and if it works.

DNS is an ellipsis of Domain Name Service. They store and associate data with domain names over the internet. In addition, they decode host names of computers to IP addresses. DNS servers are the spine to email exchange. Exclusive of a DNS server, admittance of information from the internet would be unfeasible.

It is very motivating to design your own DNS server. In this piece of writing am supercilious that you are fascinated in creating a DNS server. It is a good trick to know especially if you have your own domain. You should have a registered domain.

To set up your own DNS servers there are significant things that you should have. One thing you should consider is having a host account and a domain that is registered. You should purchase the domain and the host name form the same place. For instance, you cannot purchase a domain from goddy.com, purchase the hostages from one.com, and expect to set up a domain.

If you do not have domain account and the hostages, you can purchase them online. Domain servers are cheaper online than in retail shops. Once you have them you are set to go. Follow the simples steps outlined below

Install bind9

On your command line shell, type the following “$udo apt-get update” followed by “$udp apt-get install bind9 dnsutils”. This should install bind9 software in your Linux system.

 2. Network configurations

After you have successfully installed bind9, configure your network to enable it to access the bind9. If you have the IP protocol replace the DNS addresses to your preferred IP address of your network host. Before you do this, you should have already configured your network host to accept DNS requests.

 3. Firewall configuration

When you are done with network configuration go ahead and configure your firewall port 53. Configure it in a manner that it can accept all DNS request.

 4. Zone files creation

The fourth step is to create the zones files. This step is very crucial and I recommend that you check on the various publications based on the same. The publications will give you a systematic process on how to create zone files. Study them carefully and carry out the procedure on your own.

 5. Reverse zone file creation

Like the above step, download the source code and copy paste it on you command line shell. Run the code and wait for it to execute. The function of this file is to convert IP addresses back to host name.

If you have added additional domain in DirectAdmin control panel but can't find it in domain list, it's probably DNS zone problem. To get this problem solved, you need admin level access. If you're not owner of the server, please contact us via live chat or ticket system.

If you have admin access, login as admin and go to DNS Administration. In the search field enter domain name that's not showing up in domain list and click Search.

Domain parking refers to the registration of an internet domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as e-mail or a website. This may have been done with a view to reserving the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cybersquatting. Since the domain name registrar will have set name servers for the domain, the registrar or reseller potentially has use of the domain rather than the final registrant.

Domain parking can be classified as monetized and non-monetized. In the former, advertisements are shown to visitors and the domain is 'monetized'. In the latter, an "Under Construction" or a "Coming Soon" message may or may not be put up on the domain by the registrar or reseller. This is a single-page website that people see when they type the domain name or follow a link in a web browser. Domain names can be parked before a web site is ready for launching.

When connecting to a webserver over SSL, the visitor's browser decides whether or not to trust thewebsite's SSL certificate based on which Certification Authority has issued the actual SSL certificate. To determine this, the browser looks at its list of trusted issuing authorities - represented by acollection of Trusted Root CA certificates added into the browser by the browser vendor (such asMicrosoft and Netscape).

Most SSL certificates are issued by CAs who own and use their own Trusted Root CA certificates, such as those issued by GeoTrust and RapidSSL. As GeoTrust and RapidSSL is known to browservendors as a trusted issuing authority, its Trusted Root CA certificate has already been added to allpopular browsers, and hence is already trusted. These SSL certificates are known as "single root"SSL certificates. RapidSSL, a subsidiary of GeoTrust, owns the Equifax root used to issue itscertificates.

Some Certification Authorities do not have a Trusted Root CA certificate present in browsers, or donot use the root they do own, and use a "chained root" in order for their SSL certificates to betrusted - essentially a CA with a Trusted Root CA certificate issues a "chained" certificate which"inherits" the browser recognition of the Trusted Root CA. These SSL certificates are known as"chained root" SSL certificates.

Installation of chained root certificates are more complex and some web servers and applications arenot compatible with chained root certificates.

For a Certification Authority to have and use its own Trusted Root CA certificate already present inbrowsers is a clear sign that they are long-time, stable and credible organizations who have longterm relationships with the browser vendors (such as Microsoft and Netscape) for the inclusion oftheir Trusted Root CA certificates. For this reason, such CAs are seen as being considerably morecredible and stable than chained root certificate providers who do not have a direct relationship withthe browser vendors, or do not use their own root certificates to issue SSL certificates.

You can view the Certification Authorities who have and use their own root certificates by viewingthe list in your browser.

Chained root certificates require additional effort to install as the webserver must also have thechained root installed. This is not necessary for single root certificates.

A web browser user might mis-type a URL -- for example, "host1plus.com" and "hosting1plus.com". Organizations often register these "mis-spelled" domains and re-direct them to the "correct" location: host1plus.com. For example: the addresses example.com and example.net could both redirect to a single domain, or web page, such as example.org. This technique is often used to "reserve" other TLDs with the same name, or make it easier for a true ".edu" or ".net" to redirect to a more recognizable ".com" domain.

The most basic functionality of a domain name is to provide symbolic representations, i.e., recognizable names, to mostly numerically addressed Internet resources. This abstraction allows any resource (e.g., website) to be moved to a different physical location in the address topology of the network, globally or locally in an intranet, in effect changing the IP address. This translation from domain names to IP addresses (and vice versa) is accomplished with the global facilities of Domain Name System (DNS).
By allowing the use of unique alphabetical addresses instead of numeric ones, domain names allow Internet users to more easily find and communicate with web sites and any other IP-based communications services. The flexibility of the domain name system allows multiple IP addresses to be assigned to a single domain name, or multiple domain names to be services from a single IP address. This means that one server may have multiple roles (such as hosting multiple independent websites), or that one role can be spread among many servers. One IP address can also be assigned to several servers, as used in anycast networking.

In the Domain Name System (DNS) hierarchy, a subdomain is a domain that is part of a larger domain. For example, "mail.host1plus.com" and "calendar.host1plus.com" are subdomains of the "host1plus.com" domain, which in turn is a subdomain of the "com" top-level domain (TLD).
Note that "subdomain" expresses relative dependence, not absolute dependence: for example, host1plus.com comprises a subdomain of the com domain, and de.host1plus.com comprises a subdomain of the domain host1plus.com. In theory, this subdivision can go down to 127 levels deep, and each DNS label can contain up to 63 characters, as long as the whole domain name does not exceed a total length of 255 characters. But in practice some domain registries have shorter limits than that.
