Setting Reverse DNS for my VPS' IP Addresses
Posted by on 28 March 2011 06:49 PM

Reverse DNS for VPS IP addresses could be set up in cPanel. Once logged in go to Dns functions and click add a dns zone.

In the IP box type your VPS IP address.

In the domain box type IP address without the fourth octet, for example, 31.21.12.in-addr.arpa

Click Submit. Now you should have ns1 and ns2 as well as mx listed.

Go to the bottom of edit dns. Enter the fourth octet of the IPs you need to reverse in the box just to the right of the drop down you selected PTR in. For example:

ssh.mydomain.com.
ns1.mydomain.com.
ns2.mydomain.com.

Click Save and wait for DNS settings to get resolved.
